History of Perspektif
1994: SCTV execs consulted Wimar. He told them they need a good talk show. But who would host, they asked. "Me?". The Larry King style Perspektif drew a cult following.
1995: For Perspektif's anniversary, a full day discussion panel was held with 1000 fans. Perspektif then published two bestsellers supported by publishing giants. Hotter than ever, Perspektif was mysteriously cancelled in September. SCTV claims it was self censorship. People ask was it really? Fans get nostalgic and Perspektif Live! toured the country responding to invitations and drew crowds of up to 2,000
1996: No TV, no worry. Perspektif Baru was born, a weekly talk show syndicated on nationwide radio with transcripts in newspapers in major cities. The edgy image attracted major brands to sponsor more live events. Official website Perspektif Online was launched.
1997: Back on TV with Selayang Pandang, award-winning talk show, and Dialog Aktual, which was axed in the middle of broadcast.
1998: More political appearances in post-Suharto transition. Balanced by the Ordinary People concept, strengthened in a book launch event star-studded by public figures and celebrities.
1999: Come election time, Wimar stirred the air with Detak Detik Pemilu live commentary simultaneously on six national TV channels. Terror threats reached home, while he won his second Panasonic Award as favorite talk show host.
2000: President Abdurrahman Wahid said to the press he needs Wimar to be his spokesperson. Indonesia got the first spokesperson, Wimar got an insightful and exciting ride.
2002: Wimar's tell all book No Regrets was launched in Jakarta, Singapore, Australia and USA. The bestseller required second printing, and Wimar became the intl press first option for political commentary.
2003: Years promoting democracy, Perspektif Baru got support from Konrad Adenauer Stiftung based in Germany.
2004: Perspektif Baru moved into public education on electoral democracy
2005: Book launch of Perspektif Baru Spreads Its Wings
